Drills & Exercises
How often have you heard emergency team members comment that they were frustrated with a drill or exercise they just completed and that they didn’t learn anything? That is not the kind of feedback you want from your emergency response drill and exercise programs. Unless proper thought and effort are put into the design of an exercise, that kind of outcome is possible. There is an art and science to designing and conducting effective and realistic emergency response exercises and CMCG has perfected it.
Successful programs involve validating response capabilities through training and exercising activities. We work with our clients to establish a culture of preparedness that includes a solid training and exercise program. Emergency, crisis management and business continuity plans have little value unless the organization can effectively implement them. Short responding to and actual emergency; the best way to develop and validate response capability is to conduct drills and exercises. CMCG has the experience and expertise to assist clients in a full range of emergency and crisis drills and exercises. CMCG has extensive experience in designing, developing and conducting tabletop exercises, functional drills and full scale exercises to reinforce expected actions under simulated emergency/crisis conditions. These activities focus on the needs of the organization as well as the need to enhance individual skills and abilities. Evaluation criteria are used to pinpoint areas for improvement, provide positive feedback to the response organizations and serve as a basis for input into the organizations training process.
CMCG consultants have designed, developed, conducted and evaluated exercises of all types and scope, from a simple tabletop involving less than five people, to international exercises with over 400 players, in multiple countries. We have done exercises to evaluate incident command system structures, corporate crisis teams, facility emergency plans, business continuity plans, radiological emergency response and terrorism and weapons of mass destruction.
